- Cooya Accommodation
-
Linton
Hope designed Cooya with greater beam than was customary in her day, giving
her increased stability. An additional benefit is that the accommodation
is particularly spacious. From the cockpit, the companion way leads over
the engine on the port side, where there are lockers for tools, spare parts,
lifejackets etc.
The main saloon has seating for five around a table, and two bunks:
one converts to a double by lowering the table. The forward part of the
saloon includes CD player/radio, stowage, drinks cabinet, refrigerator and storage on the port side (photo
left), with the galley on the starboard side, with large sink,
gimbaled cooker with separate grill and oven, and food storage.
The full size chart
table is on the starboard side with modern navigation, radio and
computer equipment
and a shelf for navigation books etc. It is easily visible from the cockpit
and is protected from spray by a large Perspex screen.
Forward, the heads and a large hanging storage locker are to port, with two bunks to starboard
in the middle cabin,
while the forepeak
has further stowage
space and four more bunks (two of which are for children).
